Lakerda (politiki): Salted bonito

Our traditional Istanbul-style lakerda is carefully prepared in Thessaloniki. The selected bonito fish are cured using only salt; they contain no additives or preservatives. This method brings out the fish's natural aroma and characteristic texture.
Following the curing process, the product is packaged in sunflower oil to preserve its freshness and ensure ease of serving.
Bonito lakerda is one of the most beloved classic appetizers in Turkish cuisine. Especially when served cold with olive oil, finely chopped red onion, and a few drops of lemon, it offers an elegant start to any meal.
